I’m treating this training like a vacation… or like summer camp, only its not really summer yet.
Do I really think that after being in this industry for 4+ years that anything they’re gonna teach me is gonna be useful? Hells to the no. Even the week of new employee training I got was snooze worthy. I’ve done each and every one of those power points before. Hell, I could teach that class!
The best thing about my 5 week vacation is that the classes are gonna be at night! So I get to sleep in, chill around in my house till around 3, shelp out the door, and be at my class at 4 till midnight or whenever the instructor gets tired and wants to go home.
ITS GONNA BE JUST LIKE COLLEGE!!
A couple million years ago, I used to work at Alderman Library at UVA. I was, for the most part, a closer. Occasionally I would open, but thats usually when I was filling in for someone. But anyway, I had a key and would close up the library at midnight. Great times. I didnt have a single class till, I think, 10 or 11 or something. Go back home, chill, eat lunch with my friend, then off to work at around 6ish.
Shit was awesome, back then. I was never tired, I was always happy. I really wish this could be my schedule for the long haul, but then I’d never see my husband and that would suck ass. Contrary to popular belief, I actually like him. 😉 I get alot more flexibility in my schedule since I’m a govie and he’s a contractor, but at least he’s being allowed to keep up with me for a few weeks.
Anyway… maybe one day we’ll be 2nd shifters. But for now, I’m content to wallow in my pre-summer vacation, complete with sleeping in and late night-ness, and the kindness of my husband’s boss to let him match my schedule until this is done.
Tonight starts my staying up late conditioning. Lets see how late I stay up, tonight!! 😛
