The Return of Joey

Last year I posted about how I am called everything under the sun except my name.  This morning I come in and proceed to listen to my voice-mails.  I have 5.

Now, on any given week, I am called, maybe, 3 times.  Mostly by my husband.  And if he knows I’m not here, then I should hope he would know not to call me at work.  I came in today to hear 5 voice-mails.  5.  I’m not that important.  And if you really really need me, then you should know my cell, or at the very least, the home number.

-Call #1:  From phone number XXX-4585.  Call received on May 24th at 9:18am.  “Joey?  Its your mother.  The company called and wants to know what you want to do with the lawn mower.  Call me back.”

-Call #2: From phone number XXX-4585.  Call received on May 24th at 9:21am.  “Joey?  Its your mother.  Call me back.  Its about the lawn mower.”

-Call #3: From phone number XXX-4585.  Call received on May 24th at 9:26am.  “Hi Joey.  Its your mother.  The lawn mower company called and they want to know how you’re going to pay.  Call me please.”

Call #4: From phone number XXX-4585.  Call received on May 24th at 9:30am.  “Joey?  Hi, its your mother.  I need to talk to you about the lawn mower and what you want to do with it.  Are you getting these messages?  Its important.”

-Call #5: From phone number XXX-4585.  Call received on May 24th at 9:32am.  “Hi Joey.  Its your mother.  I need to talk to you about the lawn mower.  The company called about it.  Call me back.”

Oh.  My.  God.

I wish I was kidding.  I truly do.

This woman called 5 times in a span of 14 minutes.  14!!!!

Now, my outgoing message is something to the effect of “Hi, you’ve reached XXXX.  I’m not able to take your call right now, so please leave a message, thanks.”  I dont state my name nor the entire phone number because you never know who’s calling and I dont want scammers knowing my name.  But I’m obviously a woman!  And I’ve had this phone number for at least 7ish months now!  If your son hasnt told you his new work number yet, he doesnt love you.  Or something.

At this point, I’m just worried for the mother.  If she needs Joey and its an emergency, one random day out of the blue, and she keeps calling me, Joey’s not gonna get the message, and something bad might happen as a result of that.  I dont want that on my conscience!  Would you?

I called Joey’s mother this morning.  I got a nice sounding man who sounded a little exasperated, but apologized for the mother.  I emphasized that I wasnt mad, but I was worried about future emergencies, and to please let her know that Joey doesnt have that number anymore.  He said he’d do that.

I’m only back here for a week before disappearing for another two weeks.  Joy.  So I can only imagine what I’ll be coming back to.  More messages for Joey?  I’ll keep you informed!
